Sports Massage

Success stands on wellness trophy

A technique that is addressed back to the primeval greek, Sports massage is a sacred technique which entails the manipulation of soft body tissues to assist a person engaged in regular physical activity. This practice improves athletic performance by healing both the physiological and psychological conditions curing any dysfunctional muscle, injuries in the tissues, body swelling, high blood pressure, pain, and anxiety enhancing pre-event and post event performance and stress.

The sports massage therapists apply four most common processes (defined from French) that describes different curatives starting the massage with Effleurage which means ‘To Skim’ or stroking, followed by Petrissage which involves Kneading, squeezing, picking up or shaking. Frictions are smaller forceful moves applied back and forth using pads usually practised third in line, and finishing with tapotement aiming towards relaxation by hacking and cupping. Growing number of instructors believe this massage practice provides extra edge to contenders for high performance promoting immediate recovery of muscle overuse.
